Collect a small claims judgment
You won. Which state?
Your state's steps to get paid, with the court's own forms and fees linked.
General information, not legal advice. Ask a lawyer before you act on it.
Five states so far, checked October 23, 2026. More are on the way; until then, your county court's self-help page is the place to start.
What winning means
A judgment says they owe you. It does not move the money. In every state on this site, the court does not collect for you: the winner asks for payment, finds out what the other side owns, and asks the court for an order that lets a sheriff, marshal or constable take it.
- Wait out the appeal window. Usually 10 to 30 days, set by your state.
- Ask for payment in writing. Make the letter.
- Find out where they work and bank. Most states give you a form or a hearing for it.
- Get the court's order (a writ or an execution) and hand it to the officer.
- Tell the court when you are paid.

How this site checks
Each step comes from a court, a state law library or a city office, linked beside it, with the date it was checked. Nothing here is a law firm, and nothing you type is sent or saved.
