A worked example
A judgment signed October 1, 2026 with no appeal: the 30th day is October 31, 2026, so the request goes in from November 1, 2026. In Guadalupe County that is $280 with service. Before you pay it, check that they own something a constable can take: Texas wages are exempt, and a bank account needs a writ of garnishment instead.
Fees and forms change, and your court's clerk has the current ones. General information, not legal advice. Ask a lawyer before you act on it.
Ask once, in writing
Before the court steps, most winners send a letter asking for payment by a date. Fill one in and print it; nothing you type leaves this page.

Can a Texas writ take wages?
No. Wages are exempt from garnishment in Texas. Bank accounts and stocks can be reached with a writ of garnishment.
What if there is nothing to take?
A judgment against someone with only exempt property may never be paid. A turnover order is the next option when other steps can't reach their property.
How long can I wait?
The judgment is generally good for 10 years and can be renewed; a dormant one generally can be revived within two years.
